The voice performers in Grand Theft Auto 5 pour their hearts and souls into their performances.
The GTA 5 voice performers put up their best effort no matter what kind of writing material is provided to them. It has resulted in some quite memorable lines still being quoted today. Additionally, they performed motion capture in addition to the vocal work they were hired to do. As a result, they appear to be very similar to their video game counterparts in appearance.
Players may wonder who is hiding behind the mask. Rockstar Games decided to bring on a few well-known actors. Notably, they were all somewhat unknown prior to the release of Grand Theft Auto 5. Since the debut of this game, their public reputations have improved tremendously. Here is a list of the GTA 5 voice actors who make their magic happen.
The Voice Behind The Characters
Shawn Fonteno, Ned Luke, and Steven Ogg have all established themselves as well-known voice performers in Grand Theft Auto V. They were all had to audition for their roles, and in the end, they were successful. Take a look back at these GTA 5 voice actors from the past.
Shawn Fonteno- (Franklin Clinton)
Before his involvement in Grand Theft Auto 5, Shawn Fonteno has only played one role in a video game. In this case, it was the infamous Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, in which he was referred to as “Solo.” Additionally, he is the cousin of Young Maylay, which is a nice touch. His most notable role is that of Carl Johnson’s voice actor.
Shawn and Maylay are both rappers who are situated in Los Angeles, California. Because Los Santos is a direct equivalent to Los Angeles, this gives their characters a greater sense of reality. They do an excellent job at capturing the West Coast vibe.
Shawn is well aware of the memes that have developed around his character. He even collaborated with Slink Johnson on a live-action recreation of the “Lamar Roasts Franklin” sequence from the film.
Ned Luke – (Michael De Santa)
Ned Luke is a professional actor who has previously announced his retirement from the entertainment industry. He eventually felt the need to scratch that itch once more, which resulted in his return. He had a negative attitude toward the video game industry for a long time. On the other hand, his agent persuaded him to go on an audition for the role of Michael De Santa.
Ned successfully got a callback shortly after, and the rest is history. He is the most active voice actor in the GTA 5 community out of all of the other voice actors. And he specifically called out YouTuber MrBossFTW for writing clickbait stories on Grand Theft Auto 6.
Ned is extremely proud of his work and will defend Rockstar Games whenever the opportunity arises.
Steven Ogg- (Trevor Philips)
Steven Ogg had a few brief parts in television shows prior to his role in Grand Theft Auto 5. After a brief absence, he returned to the show to reprise his role as Trevor Philips.
With his nuanced portrayal of Trevor, he was the star of the show. Trevor benefited from his ability to express a wide range of emotions, which he achieved by giving the character additional complexity. In North Yankton, for example, Trevor discovers Brad’s burial, which is one of the most memorable scenes. In my opinion, it’s one of the most emotionally charged situations in the entire game.
Steven has had the most incredible amount of success out of all of the GTA 5 voice actors. He was successful in landing roles in popular television shows. Better Call Saul and The Walking Dead are two examples of this. Steven has admitted that he was stereotyped as “the crazy person.” However, it resulted in a comfortable standard of living.
Amanda De Santa- (Vicki Van Tassel)
Vicki Van Tassel, an actress with a diverse variety of abilities, was the actress who played Amanda De Santa, the wife of Michael De Santa in the television series. Despite the fact that Amanda is not the main character, she is one factor contributing to Michael’s decision to rekindle his criminal activities from his past.
Devin Weston- (Jonathan Walker)
Jonathan Walker, a well-known television program actor, provides the main protagonist’s voice in Grand Theft Auto 5. Walker eloquently depicts devon Weston’s malice and anger in the voice of the character.
Wrapping up
Behind the scenes of “Grand Theft Auto 5,” there have been many talented and attractive people working on the game. The fact that a video game has generated more revenue than any Hollywood picture may not come as a surprise. Trevor Philips, Michael De Santa, and Franklin Clinton are the three main characters in the game, each of whom has its network of connections and backstory. Naturally, this implies that the game features a large supporting cast, with actors providing the voices for all minor characters who speak in the game.
Some people may not be aware of how these voice actors appear in real life and what they do in their spare time aside from voice work. Some of them also perform on stage, model, and earn a living through jobs that may need what is known as a “face for television” or similar designation.
